Sanctuary Golf Club On Sanibel

The Sanctuary Golf Club Sanibel is one of America’s finest golf communities and best places to live in Florida. It is nestled at the North end of beautiful Sanibel Island. The course is surrounded by the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge.

This luxury community combines the amenities of a state of the art Florida country club with an unspoiled and untamed wilderness. Arthur Hills designed the course. He called it his “island masterpiece”.  Unfortunately, the course is part of a private club. Therefore the play is limited to its members. This fact in combination with the outstanding course quality is one of the best of its kind in the entire state of Florida.

The Sanctuary Golf Club Course Is Full With Wildlife

The scenery changes along the course. After teeing off at the club house you get a magnificent lake view at holes two and three, before being provided with the  panoramic views of the Pine Island Sound at hole number four.

From there you start your journey passing the club house one more time before heading in the mangrove forests. The most challenging hole of the Sanctuary Golf Course is a long par five at hole number nine. After crossing a lake the course takes a sharp right turn before trying to place your ball on the narrow green on top of the hill.

Make sure you call the snackery to order a fresh sandwich or salad before starting the back nine with a narrow par four.

A beautiful par three is waiting at hole number 12. Crossing a lake full with fish and bird life. And make sure: the balls in the water are part of gator land. A retriever is a must have – in case you want to try to go ball fishing in the lake.

Hole 13 of the Sanctuary Golf Course is a very long par four with a well protected green surrounded by bunkers.

Hole 14 is definitely a challenge for all golfers with water in play on your first two shots. It also provides one of the most beautiful lake views with stunning bird life. Sea hawks love enjoying the afternoon sun.

The Sanctuary Golf Club – Holes 17 and 18

Hole 17 is considered one of the best four pars in southwest Florida. The narrow green is guarded by a bunker on the left and a lake on the right and only good golfers can get there with the second shot.

Hole 18 is a long par five which takes you home. It requires lots of concentration with the lake on the right, the mangroves on the left and hills in between. The green goes up and down and forces you to study it before making a club choice.
