Captiva Chapel By the Sea

The Captiva Chapel by the Sea  is situated adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico beach and among palm, seagrape, and gumbo limbo trees, the building was originally constructed in 1903 for use as a county schoolhouse. Regularly scheduled Sunday services began in 1948. Like the Island Store it is one of Captiva`s historic sites.

Congregation Bat Yam, Temple of the Islands Sanibel

The Temple of the Islands was founded in January 1991. Bat Yam Temple of the Islands became the first and only Jewish congregation on Sanibel Island.

St. Michael’s and All Angels Episcopal Church Sanibel

Visiting Episcopal priests conducted services in homes and at various Sanibel Island locations until the 1950’s when the closest Episcopal services were at St. Luke’s in Fort Myers. The current building was completed on Palm Sunday, 1961
